Toymaker Hasbro is spending more than half-a-billion dollars to buy the Power Rangers and other children’s entertainment and merchandising franchises. The 520-million dollar cash and stock deal between Hasbro and Saban Entertainment is part of Hasbro’s effort to recover from last year’s Toys R Us bankruptcy. Hasbro and Saban signed a deal earlier this year for the toymaker to design, produce, and market a wide range of toys and role-play items based on Power Rangers. Hasbro has been exploring entertainment partnerships or acquisitions for at least the past four years.
