Accentuate the Positive is all about highlighting someone who is doing great things in a school to lead and inspire in our community.
That special someone, could be a teacher, student or volunteer and for the month of November our Accentuate the Positive winner, is Patricia L. Harris.
Patricia was nominated by her son, Eric, who shared the story of how his most lost her sight in 2003 while still working as an early childhood educator.
Some may have let them affect them in a negative way. Instead, she volunteered at the IUPUI Upward bound as parent volunteer to make sure that children involved are putting their efforts to be a successful individual no matter what they do in life. If that’s not enough, in 2013, she also finished her legally blind student at Ivy Tech before going graduating from IUPUI with her Bachelors in Social Work in 2016.
To Eric’s she’s not just his mother and a great person, she is his hero and we can certainly understand why.
