They’re were two shooting yesterday in the city. A man was shot in Tarkington Park on Indianapolis’s near northside. The victim was listed in serious condition after being shot twice in the back and taken to IU Methodist Hospital. Reports are that a fight broke out after a basketball game in the park. Tarkington Park recently underwent renovation to attract more children and families.
A second shooting happened in the 8700 block of Bel Air Dr. just before 9:00 pm. Police were called and found a man who had apparently suffered at least one gunshot wound to the back. The victim was transported to Eskenazi Hospital in critical condition. No word of a suspect or motive behind the shooting.
Police are investigating after a driver left behind a burning SUV just past the intersection near 25th Street and Columbia on the northeast side. Dispatchers received calls about a car on fire going through the intersection. The driver then stopped the vehicle and ran off. The crash and fire remain under investigation.
