We hope you’re bundled up today as you move out and about the city and that you did the same for your kiddo’s as they headed off to school on this ‘Hump Day.’ The temps were oppressively cold on Wednesday morning–in the upper 20’s. Indy Snow Force was still out in force making sure roadways were clear after Tuesday’s snowstorm that led motorists into lots of slide offs and over 100 other accidents. At least three-inches of snow was reported here in the city, while other areas saw freezing rain.

Many more Indianapolis public schools are failing the state’s latest standardized test. New numbers show 42-percent of Indy schools received an F for the 2015-2016 school year. That’s up from just 18-percent a year ago. Just three schools in the city got an A on the I-STEP.

Hundreds of Indiana National Guardsmen may have to repay thousands of dollars in re-enlistment bonuses. The word comes after an audit shows 443 citizen soldiers may have been given a $1.5-million too much in bonus payments between 2004 and 2015. The Guard says it appears to be a simple accounting mistake.

A school bus driver in Madison County could be looking at charges after forgetting an eight-year-old on the bus. Heather Johnson says her son fell asleep on the bus. School leaders say that happens. But the driver is supposed to check and make sure no one is left behind. The school and the police say that didn’t happen in this case.

Prosecutors say they expect to wrap up their case today against the man accused of murdering nine people last year in a South Carolina church. They say Dylann Roof was motivated by racial hatred when he opened fire during their Bible study session at the historically black ‘Mother’ Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. Polly Sheppard is expected to take the stand today in court. Sheppard was at the church during the shooting spree, that Roof allegedly spared, because he wanted her to tell people what he had done. Roof is facing 33 hate crimes charges and could receive the death penalty if convicted.
