“Project Indy” is getting a partner to help Indianapolis’ youth reach their full potential. Indy Mayor Joe Hogsett told a press conference on Wednesday that the five programs of “My Brother’s Keeper” will supplement his current program of getting over 1,000 jobs to inner-city youth and it’s achieving its mission in the city’s most under-served neighborhoods. “My Brother’s Keeper’s” initial program begins midday Friday on the far east side at the Applewood apartments, where a job fair event will be held for 16-to-24-year old job seekers.

Some low income families in Indianapolis are getting a deal on fresh fruits and vegetables. A new federal grant will help pick-up half the costs of some produce purchases for food insecure families. The CARE Mobile Unit will be at Christ Our King Church, 2701 N. California Street from 4 to 6 p.m. today.  In all, a $100,000 grant to the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is driving the program.

Two men are behind bars, awaiting charges for the 2015 murder of a community activist’s daughter. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department commanders say officers arrested Michael Edwards and Kenneth Jones for the shooting death of Tamara Sword Wednesday. Police found the mother and KFC manager shot dead in a car in a gas station parking lot last year at 38th Street & Lafayette Road. Sword was allegedly caught in the crossfire of two beefing rappers. Her father is prominent Chicago activist Andrew Holmes.

Police are reminding parents there’s a gap in the state law that could allow sex offenders to get close to public pools.  Officers are asking parents to be extra vigilant and stay on the look-out this summer. State law bans sex offenders from parks, schools, and some churches. However, public pools aren’t explicitly off limits.

Bernie Sanders has a meeting shortly with President Obama at the White House. This move to unify the party comes after rival Hillary Clinton effectively clinched the Democratic nomination this week, becoming the first woman to ever do so.

Speaking of President Obama…The president will make an appearance tonight on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.” It will be President Obama’s first time on the Fallon-hosted “Tonight Show.” The president last appeared with Fallon, when Fallon hosted NBC’s “Late Night.”  You may recall, that’s where he helped Fallon “slow-jam” the news.  If you missed it, check it out below:

Trial is set to begin today for a Baltimore police officer charged with murder in the Freddie Gray case. Caesar Goodson was the driver of the police van that reportedly gave Gray a deliberate rough ride. Goodson has chosen to be tried by a judge instead of a jury.

Tickets for the public memorial service for Muhammad Ali are all gone.  They ran out in about an hour after thousands of people lined up for the 15,000 free tickets Wednesday in Louisville. There have already been several reports of people selling the tickets. The public service for the late boxing legend will be held at the KFC Yum! Center Friday at 2 p.m. Eastern. It will be live streamed HERE. Ali, known as the Greatest Of All Time—or G.O.A.T., died last week with his family at his bedside in a Scottsdale, Arizona hospital at the age of 74.

Irsay says the team is committed to keeping him in a blue and white jersey. Irsay says, obviously, Luck’s contract price tag will be a “big number.”
