Venus Williams is out at the Australian Open. The eighth-seeded American lost in straight sets to British youngster Johanna Konta in the first round of the season’s first Grand Slam. It’s the second time in three years that Williams has been bounced in the first round in Oz. She was a quarter-finalist a year ago and was named the Women’s Tennis Association’s comeback player of the year. The 35-year-old was playing in her 16th and perhaps final Australian Open.
