A Spanish mayor is the first in the country to proclaim an official nap time for an entire city.  Last Thursday, Mayor Juan Faus Vitoria of Ador declared 2 to 5 p.m. as the official time for his residents to take a small afternoon snooze.  The proclamation asks folks to keep quiet during this three-hour period and recommends children to be kept indoors to prevent noise from traveling into open windows.  The mayor said the main reason behind the proclamation is to keep people away from high temperatures in the day, which reach their peak at these hours.  He said there will not be penalties for violations, and that the edict should be treated as “merely a suggestion” rather than an “obligation.”
