Jimi Hendrix’s estate is giving the green light for an official biopic about the late rock legend.  Deadline reports that Legendary Pictures has struck a deal with Hendrix’s estate, which will allow them to use Hendrix’s hit songs in the film.  “Captain Phillips” director Paul Greengrass will helm the project, while “8 Mile” screenwriter Scott Silver will pen the screenplay.  Hendrix’s surviving family members will be involved in the film’s production.  Jimi Hendrix passed away in 1970 at the age of 27.

Outkast’s André Benjamin played Hendrix in the 2013 film “Jimi: All Is By My Side.”
