A Megabus traveling to Atlanta from Chicago tangled with a semi-truck early Monday morning just south of  Indianapolis crashing on southbound Interstate-65 near Edinburgh in Johnson County. According to media reports, the bus was traveling in a road construction site and rear ended the semi. Two other vehicles were also involved. At least 10 passengers sustained injuries, but not life threatening. Several of the injured passengers were transported to St. Francis Hospital on the south side for treatment. The Clifford Fire Department who was not on the scene this morning, but was carefully monitoring as a local response agency told #WTLCIndyNews this morning that at least 19 were taken to area hospitals.

IndyGo sent a couple buses to the scene to assist transporting uninjured passengers with their luggage to a Flying J truck stop so they could wait for another Megabus to arrive so they could continue their trip. Responders were cleaning up the crash scene to reopen the highway. This crash has caused interstate back-ups and delays in the Indy metro to start the work week. Megabus is a subsidiary of Coach USA. The company has released a statement saying, “Safety is our number one priority and Megabus is fully cooperating with the authorities with their investigation into the incident.”
