Karin W. Sarrattis vice president of human resources aligned with Anthem’s Commercial and Specialty Business division. This business has P & L responsibility for more than $40B, which includes 26 million medical members and over 12 million dental and vision lives. In this role, she leads a team of human resources generalists that partner with executive leaders to deliver enhanced business performance by continuously improving organizational effectiveness, strengthening and developing talent, driving associate engagement and increasing leader effectiveness.

Prior to her current role, Ms. Sarratt joined Anthem, Inc. in July 2012 as vice president of talent management and chief diversity officer for Anthem,Inc. In this role, Ms. Sarratt drove Anthem’s talent strategy, oversaw talent systems and processes, and directed all aspects of diversity and inclusion management and workforce culture strategies for the enterprise. This included succession planning, management and leadership development, performance management, learning, organizational development, recruiting and retaining highpotential talent, building cross-cultural competence, and leveraging associate resource groups and diversity councils. Ms. Sarratt also played a key role in Anthem’s cultural redesign.

Before joining Anthem, Ms. Sarratt worked for International Paper Company for more than 14 years in a variety of human resources leadership roles. In her last role with International Paper Company, she was based in Brussels, Belgium and served as director of human resources in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. She oversaw all human resources functions and processes, including talent management, workforce development, compensation and benefits, and employee engagement, for more than 29,000 employees across eight counties and 53 locations.

Active in community service in Indianapolis, Ind., Ms. Sarratt currently serves as an executive board member for the Indiana Sports Corporation, board chair for the Forest Manor Multi-Service Center, and member ofthe UNCF Leadership Council for Indianapolis. She has also served on the steering team for Velocity, a group of community leaders and representatives of local organizations who collaborated to create a five-year strategic action plan for downtown Indianapolis.

Ms. Sarratt holds a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute. She received her Master of Science degree in Human Resources Development from Clemson University in Clemson, S.C., and her Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunications from Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

Karin, her husband, Edgar, and two children (Kamryn and Edgar III) live in the Indianapolis area. They enjoy traveling as a family, sporting activities and spending time with family and friends.
