Former Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut is asking for a community’s prayer. The beloved former minister turned politician who brought the Colts to Indianapolis is facing a double health challenge–throat cancer and heart issues.  He told the Indianapolis Star‘s Matt Tully, “The doctors have told me it’s probably a question of months and not years.”  Hudnut is taking medication for heart failure while undergoing radiation treatments five days a week to battle the cancer. He was just in town last December from Maryland, when the city unveiled a bronze statue in his honor with his wife and son at his side. That statue rests at the corner of Maryland Street and Capitol Avenue. Hudnut left his post as Indy’s Mayor in 1991 after four terms.  The 82-year-old icon of Indianapolis growth is now on medical leave from his post at Georgetown University battling these health issues.
