Hoosier entrepreneurial legend William “Bill” Mays will be remembered by the Indianapolis community today as his family and friends say goodbye during his funeral service.

Located at Eastern Star Church’s west side campus at 5805 Cooper Road, Indianapolis, a calling gets underway this morning, Friday, Dec. 12, at 9:30 a.m. ending at 10:45 a.m.  Mays’ funeral service begins at 11 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the Mays Family requests memorial contributions to:  The Mays Family Foundation, Inc. All checks should be sent to 5611 East 71st Street, Indianapolis, IN 46220, Attn: Human Resources. The foundation is a non-profit organization that promotes philanthropy,  volunteerism and grant-funding.

Mays was the founder and CEO of Mays Chemical Company, a global chemical supply and services company headquartered in Indianapolis. He was also the owner and publisher of the fourth oldest surviving black newspaper, The Indianapolis Recorder.
