Carlesha Freeland-Gaither, the woman whose violent abduction off Philadelphia streets was caught on surveillance camera, has been found alive and safe.

On Wednesday, Freeland-Gaither was discovered in Jessup Maryland. At a press conference with police officers, mother Keisha Gaither expressed her gratitude for her daughter’s safe return.

“I just want to thank everybody. I would like to thank the Philadelphia department of police, the FBI … especially the public,” she said. “I’m taking my baby home.”

The suspect, Delven Barnes, is currently being held on an unrelated warrant from Virginia for attempted capital murder.

“He’s a thug and this is what he does, apparently. Nothing he does make sense, don’t even try to find it,” said Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey. “He’s a vicious predator, he’s off the streets, and hopefully he’ll spend the rest of his life in jail.”

Police found Barnes by tracking his license plate. She was found in “good condition.”

When police tracked him down, Freeland-Gaither was in the car with him.
