wtlc-fm-logo1 NEWSThe Indianapolis City-County Council tonight could vote on a critical part of Mayor Ballard’s pre-K program for low income children.  It’s up to the council’s Administration and Finance committee to approve eliminating the local homestead tax credit to fund the program.  Some school districts say they’ll lose tens of thousands of dollars if the credit’s eliminated.  If you want to weigh-in on how this will effect you, contact your council representative.

Indy may become the first city in the United States to operate an all-electric bus rapid transit line. The city is reportedly using a $2 million grant to study the feasibility of such a system.  Mayor Ballard is expected to release more details about the plan this afternoon.

Same sex marriages in Indiana are still on hold until they’re addressed by the U.S. Supreme Court.  A U.S. appeals court on Monday continued the stay on same-sex marriage in the state until then.  They’ve been on hold since late June.

At least 15 children have been injured in a bus crash in southern Indiana. Harrison County authorities say the bus was heading to a church camp in Mauckport Monday when it suddenly dropped off the side of the road. They say it was most likely trying to avoid an oncoming car. Two children were released from the hospital and a third remains in fair condition.

Carmel’s blighted Midtown area is getting a $150 million makeover. The eleven-acres sits between Carmel City Center and the Arts and Design District. Mayor Jim Brainard says several structures are on the drawing board, including a 700 space parking garage and an office building overlooking a public plaza next to the Monon Greenway. Construction is expected to take place in phases over the next five-years, beginning next summer.

Taylor’s Bakery has a member of its family back—their stolen truck. Owner Drew Allen says “Big Red” was found Monday evening, several hours after it was reported stolen from the bakery’s main location on 62nd Street and Allisonville Road. The truck has been in the family for over 100 years. The reward for the person who found it has free doughnut holes for a year. Yummo!

This is how the nation is reporting what went down in Lucas Oil Stadium on Monday Night Football… The Philadelphia Eagles are winners in Indianapolis for the first time since 1993.   Rookie Cody Parkey kicked a 36-yard field goal as time ran out to lift the Eagles over the Colts 30-27 Monday night during the Colts home season opener. The Colts now drop to 0-and-2, but are in action again on the road on Sunday in Jacksonville to take on the Jaguars.
