477384359Wow, what a change in temps; going from high 70’s to low 50’s.  Brrr is all I have to say, but there are plenty of events going on this weekend to help keep the family warm.  Check out some of them below:

  • It’s Indy 500 Qualifying at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  Take the kids to check out IMS Kids Zone, Midway, concert and more.  For more details on the events going to today check out the website at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/
  • For a day full of arts, crafts, food, games, vendors and more head to the Arcadia May Festival in downtown Hamilton County.  Car show scheduled for Sunday from 12-4 and great events all weekend long.  Admission is absolutely free and you can find information at www.indianafestivals.org/.
  • The Mayberry Cafe in Danville, IN is hosting a 2 day festival with activities catered to the Andy Griffith Show.  Hours and activities vary daily, see www.mayberryinthemidwest.com/ for details.
  • What a great day to hang out at White River Gardens?  Visit the Butterfly Kaleidoscope inside the Hilbert Conservatory along with White River Gardens itself which is attached to the Indianapolis Zoo.  Three items for one price…I luv it.  For more details see www.indianapoliszoo.com/.
  • While out at the Motor Speedway, play Win, Lose or Draw with Radio Disney.  All from 9a-6pm with the soccer shoot out.  See www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com/indy500/.

  • Check out some of Indiana’s most elite basketball players a the 22nd Annual Super Shootout All-Star Game at Shortridge High School.  Girls game is at 11am and boys at 1pm.  See www.supershootout.org/ .
  • Take at tour of the Catacombs at the Indianapolis City Market led by Indiana Landmarks.  It’s held the 1st and 3rd Saturday from May to Oct.  Half price for kids 6-12, for prices and more information see the webpage at bit.ly/1gbJRAk.

  • One of my favorite events is still in effect, Grape to Glass Winery Tour at Easley Winery off of College Ave.  See the art of wine-making from harvest to bottle, no reservations needed, see www.easleywinery.com/tours.html for hours and more details. Plus don’t miss Groovin the Garden from 2-5pm with live music, bring your own chair to this free summer event.
  • The 7th Annual Taste of Brown County is back in Nashville rain or shine.  It’s a 2 day events with varieties of food, plus a beer and wine garden, live entertainment and much more.  See www.browncounty.com/taste for more details.

  • Hang out with your WTLC family on Sunday as we’ll be at Scottys Brewhouse in downtown Indy for our viewing party for Game #1 with the Pacers as they battle the Heat.  Enjoy games, food and much more all starting at 2pm.
