Herbie Hancock is taking his talents to Harvard.The jazz great has been named the University’s 2014 Norton Professor of Poetry. The “Harvard Gazette” says Hancock will give six lectures under the heading “The Ethics Of Jazz.” His lecture titles include “Breaking The Rules,” “Cultural Diplomacy and the Voice of Freedom,” and “Buddhism and Creativity.” Hancock will launch the series with “The Wisdom of Miles Davis” on February 3rd.

Just last month Hancock received the Kennedy Center Honors award. Those who’ve previously served as Harvard’s Norton Professor of Poetry include T.S. Eliot, Igor Stravinsky, Leonard Bernstein, and John Cage.
