Eight inmates serving time for crack cocaine offenses are free thanks to President Obama. The President also issued 13 pardons to convicts who have been released for a variety of crimes. In a statement, Obama called his actions an “important step toward restoring fundamental ideals of justice and fairness.” He also called on Congress to act on sentencing reform measures that have been proposed by Attorney General Eric Holder.
