Brent Campbell, a student at the University of North Carolina-Wilmington had no problems with anyone and was minding his business when he was verbally assaulted by a group of students.

Campbell was walking home after a workout when he was threatened and harrassed by a group of students hurling racial slurs. Campbell told CNN, “It was one of the very few times where I was called a n*gger and felt like a n*gger,”

Fearing for his safety, he remained silent, but is now speaking out…and his reaction may seem far from typical for someone who’s been through such an attack. Most people would expect him to wish for the students to be expelled. Campbell wrote a letter asking for the exact opposite.

“Knowledge and love have the power to change a heart,” he wrote in his request to meet his attackers.

See CNN’s report below…

How do you feel about Campbell’s request and reaction? How would you react?
