Family Escapes Early Morning Fire

A Hancock County family escaped a fire that sparked in their home early this morning.

It happened Just before 3 a.m., in New Palestine.

Dispatchers said flames engulfed the home, causing extensive damage.

Investigators said the fire may have sparked on the deck of the home.

No injuries were reported.

 

5-Year-Old Backs SUV Over Mom and Sister

A five-year-old boy accidentally backed over his mother and three-year-old sister.  Police say it happened at about 5:45 last night in the 94-hundred block of Jill Court.  The boy apparently climbed into the car and put it into gear.  The car struck the woman and child, pinning them underneath.  The boy’s father drove the car off of them and they were transported to the hospital for treatment.

 

Swaps Of Bees Halts Flight to Indianapolis

A swarm of bees kept a US Airways flight bound for Indianapolis, stuck at the gate at Charlotte for 3 hours.

US Airways said Flight 2690 to Indianapolis had boarded Wednesday afternoon and was ready for departure but the tug to pull the plane couldn’t be operated because of a swarm of bees.

The jet was scheduled to depart at 1:15 p.m., but ended up leaving three hours later.

Thankfully none of the bees got inside the cabin passengers remained in case of any allergies.

The flight landed safely in Indianapolis just before 6 p.m.

 

Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Meth Lab

A southwestern Indiana man who pleaded guilty to making methamphetamine in an apartment above a day-care center has received a 20-year sentence.

A Warrick county judge ordered 33-year-old Brandon Grubbs of Boonville to serve a 10-year prison term and 10 years in community corrections.

He was arrested in July 2012 after sheriff’s deputies found an active meth lab in the attic of his apartment.

 

Police Search For SUV Involved In Hit and Run

Two people were rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after an accident near Christian Park yesterday afternoon. It was a hit-and-run accident involving a moped and an SUV happened in the 4300 block of English Avenue around 3 p.m.

Two victims from the moped, the 64-year-old male driver, and his 56 year old female passenger, had serious injuries.

Both victims were taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in serious, but stable condition.

Police are looking for a maroon SUV that may have damage on the driver’s side.

Witnesses said the car could be a Ford Expedition or a GMC Yukon with a sticker in the back window.
