‘Seems like the 1-year old is on to something here’…

An Oregon man says he decided to hang on to the $225 car his 1-year-old daughter bought on eBay while playing with his smartphone.

Paul Stoute of Portland said his daughter, Sorella, enjoys playing with his phone and he recently received an email from eBay revealing she had used his eBay app to purchase a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite for $225, KPTV, Portland, reported Wednesday.

Stoute, who said he had recently been using eBay to look at fixer-upper cars for potential projects, said he has decided to keep the car and attempt to fix it up in time for it to be a 16th birthday present or high school graduation gift for Sorella.

Christina Stoute, the girl’s mother, said her husband has a major project ahead of him with the car, which was billed as a “Frankensprite.”

“It comes with two engines,” she said. “They’re both in the back seat.”

The couple said they have added password protection to their phones and deleted any apps that would allow Sorella to make further purchases.

“It cannot happen again,” Christina Stoute said.
