Woman Struck and Killed By Freight Train

A person was struck and killed by a Norfolk-Southern freight train late Monday morning in Muncie. The Delaware County Coroner said 51 year old Shailor Keys, was struck near Hoyt Avenue and Willard Street.

Officials said Keys lived near the accident scene and was on foot at the time of the incident.

The coroner said blunt force injuries were the cause of her death.

Man Killed at West Side Bar Identified 

The man who was found shot and killed outside a northwest side nightclub yesterday has been identified as 24 year old Andre Magee.

When police arrived at the lounge, they a man shot, lying in the parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses said they saw a blue SUV leave the parking lot after the shooting. A vehicle matching that description was stopped a short time later and two people were taken into custody.

One man was released after questioning, but police arrested 28 year old Traver Condon, of Modesto, Calif. on a preliminary charge of murder.

Woman Killed in 24th Street Hit and Run

A woman was fatally struck in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s near-north side this morning.

The crash happened just before midnight when a vehicle slammed into an unidentified woman walking near of 24th Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Drive.

Investigators To Try And Determine Fire Cause Tuesday

Investigators will try again today to get inside the warehouse that burned down to determine a cause.  Officials were hoping to start their investigation on Monday, but the remaining structure was deemed unsafe.  The warehouse is leased by several businesses, including Shelter Distribution, Mercury Trucking, Zen Trucking, Nationwide OTR and two general contractors.

IPS Expected To Announce Superintendent Finalists

It looks like Indianapolis Public Schools will announce the finalists for the job of its next superintendent today, WTHR-TV Reports.

So far 26 people have applied for the position.  Interviews are planned for later this week, with a new district superintendent expected to be named by next month.

Interim Superintendent Peggy Hinckley has been filling in for Doctor Eugene White, who stepped down earlier this year.

Crime Spree Teenager Headed To Court

The teenager accused of being the getaway driver in a string robberies will soon find out if he’ll be charged as an adult.  Prosecutors say the 15-year-old has a history of getting in trouble and is too dangerous for the juvenile justice system.  Seventeen-year-old Sirquain Burr has already been waived to adult court for the February crime spree that left one person dead.
