Subaru Bringing More Indiana Jobs

Subaru will invest $400 million to expand its plant in Lafayette, hiring 900 new workers by the end of 2016.

The expansion will enable Subaru to start building the Impreza at the plant, a car that had previously only been built in Japan..

More than 3,600 people work at the company’s Lafayette campus, where three other lines of cars are produced. Production of the Impreza is set to being in 2016.

 

Woman Stabbed To Death on East Side

A woman was stabbed to death in a house on the city’s east side yesterday afternoon.

Police said the woman was stabbed in the neck and taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Police have not released the victim’s identity.

The suspect was later identified as 51 year old Andrew Reynolds.

A woman who claims to be the suspect’s cousin said the couple had been together for nine years and had a history of domestic violence.

 

Ariel Castro Has Ties To Indiana

One of the men suspected in the kidnapping of three Cleveland women has ties to Indiana.

According to Fort Wayne ABC affiliate WPTA, Ariel Castro’s daughter, Emily, is currently serving a prison sentence at the Rockville Correctional Facility, after a 2008 conviction when she tried to kill her infant daughter by slashing the baby’s throat, but the baby survived.

In another twist, Castro’s son, Anthony, worked as a copy editor at Fort Wayne newspaper where he wrote an article about one of the kidnapped women and the impact of her disappearance on her neighborhood.

 

Human Remains Found in Garfield Park

A bone found in Garfield Park on Indianapolis’ south side has been confirmed as human remains.

The bone, which still had several teeth intact, was found near a small bone that appeared to be from a finger.

Tests by Forensic Services later determined the jaw bone was human, while the other bone was not.

IMPD says it appeared the bone had been there for quite some time.

Anyone with information about the discovery is asked to call police at 327-3475 or Crime Stoppers at 262-TIPS.

 

Plainfield Teacher Accused of Relationship with Student

A former Plainfield Middle School teacher is facing charges for allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a student.  The 13-year-old girl told police Joseph Singleton hugged and kissed her on several occasions.  An investigation began after the girl’s parents found text messages between Singleton and their daughter.
