Man Arrested For Intentional Accident

The man accused of deliberately causing an accident that killed another person is in custody. Police say Seantel Marsden rammed his ex-girlfriend’s car, causing her to hit another vehicle head-on. Rashshadd Artis, who was a passenger in the car deliberately hit, died at the hospital.

I-70, I-65 Reopened

Interstate 70 and the northbound lanes of I-65 are reopened. They were shut down Friday afternoon when an oversized semi struck the Virginia Avenue overpass and damaged it. Crews spent the weekend cutting steel plates and splicing them to the bridge for reinforcement.

IMS Looking At Safety Following Daytona Crash

Officials at Indianapolis Motor Speedway say they will use Saturday’s crash at Daytona as a learning experience. A spokesman says the facility will contact NASCAR to see if there are improvements that can make it safer for drivers and fans. At least 28 people were injured Saturday when debris from a crash went over and through the catch fencing.

Avon Businessman Suing Over “Waver” Ordinance

An Avon businessman is suing the town for violating his First Amendment right to free commercial speech. Victor Ruthig owns two Liberty Tax Service locations in Avon. He told the “Indianapolis Star” the ordinance prohibiting costumed wavers is unfounded. Town officials say the costumed figures distract drivers and pose a risk to public safety.

Noblesville Woman Apartment Attack

Noblesville police are looking for a man that assaulted a woman outside of her apartment. The woman told investigators she ran out to her car early Sunday morning to grab something. When she came back, a black man wearing a hooded sweatshirt was standing in her apartment doorway. The man reportedly hit and forced her to the ground, but ran off when she started fighting back.

Fortville Man Falls From Cincinnati Hotel Balcony

A Fortville man is dead after falling from the balcony of a Cincinnati hotel. Police say 24-year-old Alexander Crouch fell from the 16th floor of the Garfield Suites Hotel early Sunday. Crouch was reportedly in Cincinnati for a bachelor party.

Man Hit, Killed In Lawrence

Police in Lawrence are investigating an accident that killed one person. Officials say a man was walking down the middle of East 46th Street near Kingsboro and Burwood when he was hit early Sunday. The woman told investigators she didn’t see the man before hitting him.

Winning Lottery Ticket Sold In Indianapolis

Someone in Indiana is one-million dollars richer. Lottery officials say the first five numbers in last week’s Powerball drawing were matched. The winning ticket was sold at the Speedway on East 21st Street.

Colts Planning Freeney Farewell Party

The Indianapolis Colts are planning a farewell party for Dwight Freeney. The team isn’t signing him to another contract when his current one expires on March 12th. Team officials say Freeney’s mural on the southeast corner of Lucas Oil Stadium will be replaced with another horseshoe emblem or a mural of Andrew Luck.

Sequestration Cuts Hit Military Hard

Military and education in Indiana will take big hits if mandatory sequestration cuts take effect on Friday. The White House says about eleven-thousand civilians employed by the Department of Defense would be furloughed, and approximately 13-point-eight-million-dollars in funding for primary and secondary education would be lost. Programs that support law enforcement and crime prevention, child care for low income families, and meal assistance for the elderly would also be affected.
