Three people were shot overnight…one near 30th Street and Drexel Avenue …and minutes later, two other people were admitted to Methodist Hospital with gunshot wounds. The shootings may be related. No word on who the victims are or what led to the shootings.

Larry Bird’s 21-year-old son is facing battery and drug charges. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Department says Conner Bird was arrested Sunday on IU’s campus after an altercation with his girlfriend. Bird’s attorney called the matter “private” and said he hopes to have it resolved as quickly as possible.

Plans to decriminalize marijuana have gone up in smoke..a.t least for this year. Committee Chairman Mike Young said Monday he wouldn’t allow a public hearing on the bill that would have made possession of small amounts of the drug a misdemeanor. Young said he would work with the author of the bill over the summer to learn more about the issue before allowing a hearing.

An Indianapolis couple is dead after someone in the car they were in lit a cigarette and ignited an oxygen tank. Police say the car was heading westbound on I-70 east of the Centerville Road exit on Sunday when there was an explosion inside the vehicle. Ronnie Joe Pratt and Deborah Pratt were killed, two other people escaped.

The victims of the Richmond Hill subdivision explosion say they are torn over the prosecutor’s decision to not seek the death penalty. Marion County Prosecutor Terry Curry announced Monday he will seek life without the possibility of parole for Mark Leonard, his half brother Bob Leonard and Monserrate Shirley. Several victims of the explosion say as long as the suspects are locked away and can’t hurt anyone else, they will be satisfied with the sentence.
