Race for Cure organizers hope for last-minute boost

INDIANAPOLIS –

Central Indiana’s Race for the Cure is hoping for some last minute interest with fewer people registered and donations down 30 percent.

Packet pick-up is being held Friday until 7:00 pm at 1830 West 16th Street.

The race takes place Saturday at Military Park downtown.

Organizers expect more than 25,000 runners and walkers compared to over 37,000 last year.

The race begins at 9:00 am heading west on New York Street, just east of Barnhill on the IUPUI campus.

The route then heads south on White River Parkway West Drive, east on Washington Street to Capitol Avenue, north on Capitol to Vermont Street, south on Indiana Avenue to New York Street, then west on New York Street to the finish line near California Street.

On Saturday, New York Street from White River Parkway West Drive to West Street will be closed from 7:00 am to noon. Blackford Street from New York to Canal is closed from 6:00 am to noon.
