With a week to go before the Oscars,Civil Rights-era drama “The Help” is a big winner on the awards circuit. The film won three awards at Friday night’s presentation of the 43rd NAACP Image Awards,including acting prizes for stars Viola Davis and Octavia Spencer and the category for Outstanding Motion Picture. “Star Wars” filmmaker George Lucas was honored with the NAACP’s Vanguard Award for his body of work which includes the recently released “Red Tails”, the story of the historic African-American infantry of fighter pilots known as the Tuskegee Airmen.
