NEW YORK– John Edwards rejected a plea deal in which he would have plead guilty to three misdemeanor charges because it would have put him behind bars for six months, according to a report.

Instead, Edwards now faces six felony charges and the possibility of 30 years in prison.

The sticking point came in language that Edwards’ defense lawyers believed would preclude them from arguing for house arrest or a halfway house, according to the reports.
