Serena Williams already boasts a very impressive resume. She is 13 time Tennis Grand Slam winner, making her one of the most successful professional athletes our country has ever seen; is a successful fashion designer; part owner of the Miami Dolphins; and a spokesperson. Not to mention, she also is the on again-off again girlfriend to Common and boasts Selita Ebanks as her BFF.
Now she may have to add “Rapper” to her overflowing CV!
TMZ is reporting that Serena hit the recording studio last week to lay down a few tracks, and is working with record label “B Major Music Group” owned by Minnesota Vikings star Bryant McKinnie. Apparently, Serena has also been working with renowned hip-hip producer DJ Clue on the music, and word is, she is actually really good!
There’s been no official word as to whether she is actually recording the tracks for an album, or just for fun, but DJ Clue himself fanned the flames when he hinted via Twitter, at the possibility of releasing the tracks. He wrote; “Look @TMZ got our project on Blast…We gotta finish the album! Haa”
If she does release an alum, she will be in good company, with other professional athletes like Shaq, Kobe, Ron Artest and Allen Iverson, who have all made the transition from sporting superstar to musical, well… not-so-super-star.
Guess it pays to have friends in high places…
Still can’t wait to hear a sample though!
